Garlic Soup (Soupe `a L'Ail)

2 c. water
1 c. garlic cloves, peeled
1 c. chopped peeled potatoes
1 c. chopped carrots
Whipping cream (optional)

Combine water, garlic, potatoes and carrots in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to low and simmer until veggies are tender, about 25 minutes. Puree in blender. Season with salt and pepper. Rewarm over medium heat. Drizzle with cream if desired.
