Cheesy Ranch Red Potatoes

12 small new red potatoes
1 cup ranch style salad dressing
1/2 pound shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
1 pinch ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Wash and cut potatoes in half. Steam or boil until tender, about 25 minutes. Place cooked potatoes on an ungreased cookie sheet with the cut side up. Spread a spoonful of ranch dressing on the top of each potato half. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the ranch dressing and lightly dust with pepper. Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.
