Frosted Apple Bake
Pastry:3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 c. Crisco
1 heaping t. sugar
1 t. salt
1 egg yolk* in 2/3 c. c. milk *Save egg white
2 c. corn flakes, crushed
Roll half the dough to fit in sheet cake pan. Spread crushed corn flakes over dough.
2 c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon
Mix together apples, sugar and cinnamon. Place over corn flakes. Cover with other half of dough, but don't cut slits in top.Beat egg white (not too stiff) and spread over crust. Bake at 400* for 1 hr. on lower oven rack. While warm, drizzle with mixture of 1 c. powdered sugar and 1 c. warm water, mixed until smooth.
