Cream Cheese Gems

½ cup butter, softened
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon lemon peel
1 cup all-purpose flour


In a large bowl, beat butter, cream cheese and sugar until creamy. Beat in vanilla and lemon peel. Gradually add flour, blending thoroughly. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 12 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks. Store in airtight containers.

Makes 36 to 42 cookies.
