Cherry Delight Cookies

1 stick regular margarine, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups finely chopped pecans
48 candied cherry halves

In a large mixing bowl, combine margarine and sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, scraping bowl several times. Add corn syrup, egg yolks and flour. Mix well on medium-low speed. Chill 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 325*F and spray baking sheets with Pam cooking spray.

Lightly beat egg whites in small mixing bowl. Place chopped pecans in a wide, shallow bowl. Roll dough into balls, by heaping teaspoons. Dip each ball into egg whites and then coat with pecans. Press a cherry half, the cut side down into center of each cookie.

Place cookies about 1 1/2" apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake 18-20 minutes.
