Applesauce Bread

3-½ cups sugar
1-cup butter
4 eggs, beaten
3 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups applesauce
3 ½ cups flour
1-teaspoon salt
1-teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1-teaspoon vanilla
½ cup grated apples
1 cup chopped black walnuts, optional
½ cup raisins, optional


Warm applesauce. Using a wooden spoon, blend in soda. Set aside. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and applesauce mixture. Sift together flour, salt and spices. Stir in apples, nuts, raisins, vanilla and flour mixture. Blend. Pour into buttered and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.
